Strengths: Pairing of Speed and Size, Great hands, Can line up in the slot to create matchup nightmares. A great Football IQ.
WNF: You've tore your ACL a few times, how has that affected your career at Duke?
BD: I tore it first in 2011, and then again right before my RS Senior Season. It is one of those things where life is going to throw you an unexpected setback and youre going to have to be mentally tough and handle what is at hand. With an injury like that you get a little bit of cabin fever because you are constantly in the training room. It made me realize how much I love the game and how bad I wanted to be out on the field with my teammates. I made sure I worked as hard as I could to make sure that when I came back I didnt lose a step.
WNF: Who are you goals in terms of 40 yard dash/Measurables for your Pro Day?
BD: I hope I can run in the 4.68-4.75 range in the 40 yard dash. Measure at 6'5 250+lbs, and hit 24 reps on the bench press.
WNF: What is your biggest strength on the field?
BD: I would say my ability to read defenses and how I am able to fit into zones so effectively. I've alway understood defensive concepts well, I react and fit the hole in the D. Also, I am able to create favorable matchups against LBs, CBs, or Safetys with my size, speed and motor. I am a competitor. I always engage the ball and catch the ball with my god given hands.
WNF: If you could improve one aspect of your game what would it be?
BD: I would say blocking. When blocking at the next level, you really need to put on your big boy pants. I would also say I could always improve on my overall speed and quickness. At the next level both these attributes are crucial.
WNF: If you could compare yourself to one NFL TE, who would you choose?
BD: I am not trying to be bias, but I would say Carolina's Greg Olsen. We run a similar offense to the Panthers and I love the way he attacks the ball and reads defenses to get himself open. I really model myself after him.
WNF: Where would you rank yourself in this years group of TEs?
BD: To be honest, I havent watch them all play so its difficult to say. However, I know that I can perform at the same level, do anything and everything any TE in the draft can do. So i'd put myself up there with the best of them.
WNF: Who was the best defensive player you faced while at Duke?
BD: My redshirt freshman year I face BC LB Luke Kuechly and he was all over the field. He was an animal. I would also throw Miami LB Denzel Perryman in there too, he coud HIT!
WNF: If I was an NFL GM why would I want you on my team?
BD: I always work my butt off and your are going get my best in anything I do. Thats, just me. I believe that I can play at the next level and will do whatever I can to help my team win. I am a good teammate, I have really great relationships at Duke and will always love my team and the guys who have my back. That’s a quality that’s really important to have.
